WHY ATHLETICS?

Athletics prepares our young people for the challenges of adult life. Life is reflected in athletic endeavors and success is facilitated by:

* consistent preparation for practice and competition
* a positive attitude
* dedication to a cause
* establishing and striving for high standards of conduct and attitude

Student athletes learn the value of team work and commitment. Excellence in athletics is the result of the hard work of many people over a long period of time. St. Thomas More's tradition of excellence brings honor and respect to our student athletes, our schools and our community. As members of the interscholastic teams, students are responsible for representing the Rapid City Catholic Schools and the entire community of Rapid City. Contributing to our athletic tradition will be a source of satisfaction to the students and to the schools.

The Rapid City Catholic Schools (STM and SES) stresses the importance of a well-balanced activities program for boys and girls and realizes that many hours are given for study, practice and total participation in any athletic endeavor. St. Thomas More High School encourages parent and community support of students for their achievement, as these activities are instrumental in developing great community interest and pride.
