PTO Vice President

Our new Vice President for the 2008-2009 school year is Angie Dietrich. Angie has volunteered to fill the vacant office, and we welcome her to the executive board!

PTO MEETING MINUTES SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2008

Meeting began: 7:03

Cathy Durkin, PTO President opened the meeting with a short prayer.

Introduction of officers:
Kim Sears - Secretary
Mary Anne Wingert - Communications Secretary
Beth Eilers – Treasurer

TREASURERS REPORT: Cathy Durkin gave the report. She indicated that at the beginning of the year the balance of the account is $4100.00. All of the teachers at SES have already given $50.00 for the purchase of classroom supplies.

CLEAN UP DAY REPORT: On the morning of Aug. 9th, the annual school clean up day was held. Approximately 45 parents and students worked at SES cleaning the outside and the inside of the building. Windows, desks, chairs, hallways, and lockers were cleaned, books were delivered to classrooms, risers moved to the music room, stairs and banisters cleaned, and the Kindergarten toys were bleached and cleaned. Outside of the building the sidewalks were swept, garbage was picked up and windows were cleaned.
A big thank you goes out to everyone who worked on clean up day to spruce up the school and get it ready to greet students on the first day of school.

UNIFORM SWAP REPORT: The chairperson for the uniform swap, Terry Hilt, reported that during the 10 days for the swap $586.00 was netted for the PTO. Terry had fewer clothes to take home after the swap than she began with, and she will be having the same event during the Winter Carnival day at the school in late January. Donations of uniform clothing may be left at the office to be put in the next swap.
Cathy Durkin suggested a gift should be given to Kara Moyle for all of the years spent for her service coordinating the swap at SES. It was agreed upon to purchase a flower bouquet and a gift card as a thank you to Kara for her time given to the swap.

PTO REPRESENTATIVES: Cathy Durkin explained the need for classroom representatives and outlined the duties of a representative. Anyone wishing to sign up for a classroom may contact any of the officers to become a representative. The parent signing up would be contacted before the October meeting with the assignment and list of duties necessary to be the rep.

GRANT REQUESTS: A request for $1000.00 for the purchase of music books to be used for the K–8 masses from Colleen Lecy and the Chaplain Committee. The amount is half of the cost with the remainder possibly coming from the Student Council – Approved.
