“Give Thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever”
Psalm 118:1

With November come thoughts of Thanksgiving. H.U. Westermayer states, “The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these, who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving”.
William A. Ward says, “God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say “thank you?
Both of these quotes cause me to pause, sheepishly, to take a minute to thank God for my many blessings. For years I kept a gratitude journal. Each night I would record at least three things I was thankful for in the day. Some days were easier than others, but I never failed to find three things to thank God for. I have recently neglected this practice. I invite you to join me in the month of November to practice gratitude. This can be done as families at meal time or individually as you prepare for bed in the evening.
I thank you for being a part of St. Elizabeth Seton School. Thank you for…
The smiles and greeting as I enter the school, The hugs from preschool and kindergarten students as I walk in the hall, Polite greeting from Middle School students, Notes of appreciation from students and parents, Phone calls and emails that bring things to my attention that cause me to strive to make SES an even better school than the awesome school it is, Those who share their joys and sorrows with me, Those who pray with and for me, The parents and students who trust enough to let us know they need help, Those who help others, A superintendent and School Board who encourage us to strive for excellence, Those in the community who generously support the school, Those who sacrifice to send their children here, Volunteers, The parents and staff who partner with me in the formation of young Christian men and women…
May God bless you abundantly, and may we remember to give thanks.
Colleen Lecy
“If the only prayer you said in your life was, “Thank you,” that would suffice. – Meister Eckhart
