The funds contributed to the “Endowment
for Excellence in Education Campaign” are payable to the Rapid
City Catholic School System, a non-profit charitable organization,
duly organized and authorized under the laws of the State of South
Dakota and the Internal Revenue code. All checks may be made payable
to the Rapid City Catholic School System (or RCCSS).
The proceeds received from the “Endowment
for Excellence in Education Campaign” will be allocated as
follows: 75% to a Permanent Endowment, and 25% to a Capital Fund,
unless otherwise specified by the donor.
The Rapid City Catholic School System has adopted
an investment philosophy for the Permanent Endowment based on preserving
capital and maximizing returns, while maintaining proper asset allocation
on a continuing basis. The endowment funds initially will be maintained
in trust, through the Diocese, with the assistance of the Diocesan
Finance Office.
Interest income from the endowment will be used
for faculty and staff salaries and benefits, as well as for student
tuition and financial aid. The Capital Fund will be used for capital
improvements, as well as the future building needs of the Rapid
City Catholic School System. The expenses incurred during the Campaign
are paid from the campaign receipts.
The St. Elizabeth Seton Central Catholic School
Corporation operates as the Rapid City Catholic School System (RCCSS),
including St. Elizabeth Seton Elementary and Middle School and St.
Thomas More High School.
